It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Football...

Saturday the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft begins! I'm getting more into professional football as the years go on. I am a complete football fanatic, but for some reason professional games aren't as exciting to watch as college. I love to see the desire the college players have. There is so much emotion! I know the pro players feel it as well, but they also get paid millions of dollars so there is more to it than just "the love of the game". Anyway, now that I have followed so many players from college to professional I'm becoming more of a fan. I've watched them grow up! Derrick Harvey, a defensive end from Florida, is projected to go in the top 15 of the first round. YAY! Malcolm Kelly from OU should go first round as well. It is so exciting! Could you imagine working and dreaming about something your whole life and then have to sit through two days of picking teams? Oh the torture! Kody and I have loved watching all the hype before the draft starts the last few years. The best was Vince Young's year. All the big name guys stepped out of limos in sweet action suits looking all suave. Very cool and entertaining. Anyway, after the draft I can officially get excited about the season starting. Only five months to go!

Christmas in April

I know it is a little early to be celebrating Christmas, but not at the Littlefield offices! Today is one our co-workers 50th birthday. One of her biggest pet peeves is when people celebrate Christmas and it is too early. We decorated her office with a Christmas tree, lights, and two inflatables that go outside your home. We have also been playing the Chipmunks Christmas CD in her office. The flat screen in then entry to our office has been showing "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and we set up a nativity scene. Everyone is dressed in red and green. It has been amazing. The overcast weather today actually is making it feel a bit more "real". Personally, I could celebrate Christmas everyday so this is a big treat for me! Someone in the office stole Jesus from the manger. There are a few theories floating around the office that Jesus ran of with the wise men or rode away on a donkey. Hmmmm...

Kody starts finals on Wednesday. He will be finished with his second year of medical school in fifteen days. I'm praying that I will relax and not stress out about it for him. That is how we work, I do the stressing and he does the testing. ha!

Bible study was really great last night. I just love the fellowship and getting to know the girls better. I'm so quiet (which is so unlike me!) when I don't know people well and everyone else does know each other well. I feel myself coming out of that slowly when I am around the girls now and saying things I would say with my close friends. I'm getting so much more comfortable. It has been a long, slow process for Kody and me, but I think it is all working out really well and taught us a lot. I have a feeling we are going to have to "start over" more than a few times over the next ten or fifteen years so it has been good practice! I'm very proud of us.

What a Weekend

Friday night was the SAA cookout. Kody was such a good sport about helping out. Honestly, if it wasn't for him it wouldn't have happened. He did all the grilling, helped clean, and mowed the front yard fifteen minutes before everyone got there. There is nothing better than having a husband who is willing to help. It makes life so much easier! We had a great time with everyone there. We ate too much and played Guitar Hero...our favorite! Bailey was very well behaved. There were two one year olds there and she let them pet her and play with her. I'm so proud!

Saturday morning I ran the Grace Race 5K. There were a few elite runners there that ran ridiculous times. These women were running 16:00 and 17:00 5K's. Ouch! I ran a 23:20 which is actually quite good...especially since I haven't been running as much as I would like. I'm trying to run a 5K a few times a month just to get back into racing. I already have the Route 66 marathon on my calendar. Sunday, November 16th is the big day. I would love to do a few sprint triathlons this summer, but I never seem to have time to do everything I want to do.

Saturday evening we watched Maddie Clark, Kody's cousin, play in the state championship soccer game. It was such an exciting game. It made me miss soccer so much. I always miss soccer. As Kody and I were walking into the game I said, "I wish I could go back to high school as me now". I guess that sounds silly, but he completely understood. I wish I could go back and compete. I have such a strong desire to do that again and towards the end of high school and college I just got burnt out. There was always so much going on that I couldn't completely throw myself into one thing. I think that was good and bad in different ways. I know there are so many things that I never really reached my full potential in (that sounds so silly!). Watching the game just got me so excited. They were tied 3-3 at the end of regulation and played two ten minute bonus halves. First goal wins. They got through the first ten minutes scoreless and then Maddie's teamed scored on the kickoff of the second ten minute round. So exciting! I think everyone should be able to experience winning a state championship. It's the best!

In other news, I'm trying to convince my sister to go into business with me whenever we find out where we will be for Kody's residency. I want to open my own personal training business with her. Can you imagine Robin and I working together? It would be fantastic. Not only would we be able to kick our clients into gear, but we would thoroughly entertain them. I have about two years to get her to agree to the idea.

Green Thumb

A couple of weeks ago I decided I was going to take up gardening. So far that has consisted of mowing the yard, raking up nine bags of fall leaves, and planting 12 red Begonias in my front yard. I have 12 more I want to get in the ground tonight, but I don't think I am going to have time. We have big storms rolling in tomorrow. It could make for an interesting day! Since the weather has been nicer, Bailey and I walk 2 1/2 to 3 miles every Saturday and Sunday. This allows me to cover some good ground in our neighborhood. So many yards are plush and green and then there are those that are dead and neglected. My goal is to be in the first category of yards. I will keep you all posted on the progress of my new summer project.

I was just reading through my new "Advertising Age" magazine here at work. The highest grossing new product on the market in 2007 was Campbell's Reduced Sodium Soup. They grossed $101 million in sales. The next highest grossing new product was Birds Eye Steamfresh Frozen Vegetable making $87 million. I love and use both of those products on a regular basis. You are welcome Campbell and Birds Eye.

It's Top Chef night! WAAHOO!

Ole!

Kody and I went to Abuelo's last night for dinner. I love surprise dining out meals in the middle of the week. We accidentally ordered guacamole, two entrees and dessert. I have been obsessed with guacamole since our honeymoon. I always thought I hated it until we ate and the best Mexican restaurant on the plant. I always thought it looked gross so there was no way it would taste good. I'm not wrong often, but boy was I wrong for twenty-three years of my life! Anyway, last night I was in a semi seafood mood so I got enchiladas with shrimp, scallops, mushrooms and guacamole in them. I failed to realize, however, that the enchiladas weren't filled with shrimp and scallops like I was lead to believe; they were lightly sprinkled with shrimp and scallops and filled with guacamole! I think I could have turned into an avocado after that meal. So good. We spent the meal discussing past relationships. That may sound weird, but after being together for almost six and a half years (oh my gosh) you tend to be able to laugh and not care. We were discussing how certain decisions that we thought were small or no big deal at all at the time probably had a huge impact on the way our lives turned out. We were talking about that in our bible study a little Monday night as well. God is always in control even if we don't think realize His plan is in action.

I'm having a good day so far. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I got in a great run this morning. I was one of the only ones in the gym which is very unusal early in the morning. I had not been able to run since Saturday and I've been missing it so much. The weather the past few days has no helped at all. Everything is flooded. I hope our yard is thirsty!

"Taught you bought hangin' tough..."

This past weekend Kody and I were in Edmond for Brooke's wedding. It was beautiful and sweet and everything I know she wanted it to be. She looked gorgeous. Her dress was clean and simple. I love her hair. I will put up pictures eventually, but I am kind of a slacker when it comes to those things! One of the highlights of the day was finding out that the lady that was doing her make-up used to do make-up for New Kids on the Block!!! I am not kidding. She is from Boston and as all true New Kids fans know, that is where it all started. How jealous am I that Brooke can tell people her make-up artist worked for New Kids on the Block. Some girls have all the luck....

Last night was the first night of our female bible study from church. The two young married classes are getting together to study every other week. I'm really excited about it. It is going to be so nice to have that connection with people here in Tulsa. Kody is going to go to the men's study as well. I think it is going to be very positive for both of us.

Last night we had very strong storms. Kody and I both woke up about 3AM to the loudest hail I have ever heard. I thought all of our windows were going to bust. Apparently the tornado sirens were going, but we couldn't here them. That is kind of scary! Bailey slept through the whole thing on our bed. I love that silly dog.

One of my great friends from high school who lives in California now, Brittany, gets to go see NKOTB perform on the Today Show. Seriously people, I have to see them. I'm getting too jealous of my friends!

The Right Stuff

It's official! New Kids on the Block are making comeback. A new single in May, an album this summer, and a reunion tour this fall. Goodness gracious could this day get better? They appeared on the Today Show this morning. They look exactly the same. YAY! Their new and improved website also went live today, www.nkotb.com. Check it out! Tour dates will be announced soon and you better believe that I will be there. I feel like I am eight years old again and I love it. Now I just need to find my New Kids slap bracelet....for real.

Kody and I are heading to Edmond this weekend for Brooke's wedding. I'm very excited for all the festivities. It should be a good time.

In other fantastic happenings, I won the "Lucky 13" bracket pool at work. WOOHOO! My bracket winning streak is still alive. Show me the money.
